Carnival Cracks Down on High Stakes Activity on Pool Deck
I appreciate what Carnival has tried to do on this ship to make flexible dining more accessible. In addition to the main dining room, passengers who have selected the Anytime Dining plan can enjoy dinner at Cucina del Capitano or Chibang! Where they can choose dishes from the restaurant's menu or the always-available options from the main dining room menu. If you've never sailed with Carnival, you might be surprised to discover that it has some of the best sit-down dining among the big-ship lines. One of my favorite things about Carnival is that the line's ships offer a diversity of casual, included dining venues. New with the Excel class is Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken venue serving variations on the fried-chicken-and-biscuit theme from breakfast through the late afternoon.
Carnival Celebration – 2022
Launched in July 2021, Mardi Gras is Carnival’s first LNG-powered ship and the largest ship ever built for the cruise line. Mardi Gras is the only ship in the Carnival fleet whose name doesn’t start with the word ‘Carnival’. This could be because Mardi Gras actually means Carnival, so the ship would be called ‘Carnival Carnival’ if that were the case. Just like Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration will has six different areas with various things to enjoy including the Bolt rollercoaster, the RedFrog Tiki Bar and Suess at Sea productions.

Plus, the space is a bit of a throwback to the days when interior designer and architect Joe Farcus was responsible for Carnival's ship decor. The decor is midcentury modern style meets '80s quirk, featuring a pink and teal color scheme, fun light fixtures and a bar with colored mirror accents. The ship is divided into six zones, where passengers can find a mix of bars, restaurants, live performances, water-filled fun and exhilarating activities like a ropes course, minigolf and, of course, the Bolt roller coaster. Carnival Jubilee's demographics run the gamut from families with young kids or extended family groups to groups of friends, couples and even solo cruisers (even though it doesn't have any cabins for singles).
On that note there’s Bar 820 for tropical cocktails and Cuban coffee, plus Deco Deli serving up a selection of classic sandwiches… Cuban faves included. And while Miami isn’t quite known as a pizza town, we don’t think you’ll mind that we’re serving up the cheesy stuff until 4 a.m. (Roll up your sleeves and dig in!) And like any cosmopolitan center, dining quality and variety counts big. That’s why you’ll find Cucina del Capitano and Rudi’s Seagrill restaurants in the neighborhood.
Aft-View Extended Balcony
Derived from the word "drinks," the name of the bar is also the name of its cartoon mascot. She has pet butterflies that she keeps in a fishbowl, a jellyfish lava lamp and an extensive collection of eyeglasses in all colors and shapes. She'll show up occasionally on the LED screens that make up the fake windows lining the promenade. On Deck 18, you'll find Waterworks, which offers waterslides and a splash area for kids. There's also a hot tub at Loft 19 on Deck 19, which charges a fee for access. Looking to find a group of like-minded travelers on your sailing?

BOLT: ULTIMATE SEA COASTER
The TV also allows you to watch select live channels and shipboard programming and to check your onboard bill. Done up in bright, tropical colors, these rooms offer extended outdoor lounge space and private access to the Havana Pool and Bar area. It was completely different — different color, different taste and different presentation — from what I received when I ordered the same drink on a sailing two months prior. However, the old ingredients were listed on the menu, meaning passengers weren't getting what they thought they ordered.
Carnival: Introducing Celebration Key
Here’s the most affordable way to experience Mardi Gras®, without cutting even a single corner in the comfort department. With an Interior stateroom you’ll get a full private bathroom, your choice of bed size and layout — covered in linens you can feel at home in — all of which make this truly a great spot for curling up after a long day’s fun. Get all the comfy details about Interior staterooms on Mardi Gras. If you’ve strolled along New Orleans’ French Quarter in the evening, you’re not alone in feeling that mysteries and surprises lie around every corner. A French Quarter-styled zone on a new ship wouldn’t be complete without an unassuming little bar that feels like it’s always been there.

The ship will sail out of Long Beach, California, offering Italian-style cruising for American guests. To further confuse things, Carnival has a practice of renaming some of its older ships after they have undergone renovations. Plus, the cruise line sometimes buys ships from other cruise lines and adds them to the fleet. Carnival Luminosa was launched for Costa Cruises as Costa Luminosa in 2009. While Carnival calls this a Spirit-class ship, the design also features elements from the Vista Class. The newest Carnival cruise ship currently at sea is Carnival Venezia.
You'll find floor-to-ceiling windows that really bring in the ocean views. Just wait until the sun goes down and the space slips into evening dress, transforming into an amazing show venue after dark! In Grand Central you're never far from great dining spots like Bonsai Sushi™ and Bonsai Teppanyaki™, plus feel-good entertainment like Piano Bar 88™ and The Punchliner Comedy Club™. When you’re cruising on Carnival Celebration there’s just so much destination to be found… even right on board. That’s because here, in The Gateway zone, “international flavor” isn’t just an expression, but a way of life!
The area takes the place of the RedFrog Pub, a venue I've loved on other Carnival ships. The decor here is a little darker, but the expanded size and proximity to a pool, hot tubs and outdoor seating are a definite plus. The deli, pizza and Guy's barbecue eateries are all on Deck 8, with a third ice cream outlet in the Heroes Tribute Bar.
The Excel-class ship is named the Carnival Jubilee and will be delivered to Galveston, Texas, where it will sail seven-day, western Caribbean trips, according to Carnival. The menu has several types of meat — including steak, of course, as well as lamb chops and chicken — and seafood items like fish and lobster tail. I went with a 9-ounce filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection.
